Pioneer Summer School
Pioneer Summer School will be held at Westminster College, Cambridge, UK (30 June – 4 July 2014)
We have had many people say that they are unable to commit to 6 Saturdays but that they would prefer to have Pioneer School in on block. So we are offering Pioneer Summer School!
Pioneer Summer School will run from 30 June – 4 July 2014, in Cambridge, UK and will comprise of a combination of high quality, whole-group input and small-group activities, with personal reflection time, as appropriate. We will cover similar material to Pioneer School, such as discipleship, pioneering leadership and mission within a contemporary context. Because this summer school is essentially a residential one, (although there will be opportunity for attending on a non-residential basis) we will have plenty of time for following up on areas or issues that are specific to your own context, with fellow pioneers and course tutors.
Cost: Residential (single en-suite accommodation and all meals) £500 limited to 20 places at Westminster College
Non Residential (includes lunch/dinner) £295
As this is the week before the start of the Tour de France, in Cambridge, all residential venues are unable to be flexible with booking charges. Therefore, we need to be sure that this is a viable course for this summer and have yet to confirm our provisional booking. However, we would very much like to be able to offer this summer school, so if you are at all interested, please do contact Nicky either by email: email@example.com or by phone: 01223 746585. Booking will then open shortly
Pioneer Retreat 23 – 25 June 2014
Following the success last year’s retreat, we are pleased to be able to offer a second Pioneer Retreat at Launde Abbey, Leicestershire. Our pioneer retreat is for active pioneers (lay and ordained) from all denominations. We allow time to draw aside from the increasing demands of pioneering, gather together with other pioneers and make space to encounter God. This year’s retreat will be led once again by Adrian Chatfield, part of the CPL team and Tutor at Ridley Hall, Director of the Simeon Centre for Prayer and the Spiritual Life and a member of the National Fresh Expressions Team.
Cost: £190 (en-suite accommodation and all meals/refreshments included)
Time: Monday 23 June (arrive 2pm) – Wednesday 25 June (depart 2pm – after lunch)
There are only 17 spaces, so if you would like to book one please contact Nicky on firstname.lastname@example.org
home, our new pioneer community, will be having it’s initial gathering:
Friday 7th Feb, Ridley Hall, Cambridge (1pm – 5pm)
If you would like to join us at this gathering, please contact Nicky email@example.com
At the Breakout gathering our new pioneer community, called home, was launched. It’s Community Guardian is Adrian Chatfield. It provides a community at the heart of CPL which is about meeting, supporting and investing. It provides pioneers with the stability of a home and the disciplines of a measured rhythm of life.
CPL were one of the hosts of the fifth annual Pioneers Breakout Gathering. Over 100 pioneers from a variety of denoninations came together to think about the vital issues of discipleship. There was input from Stuart Murray Williams but most of the time was learning from each other about what discipleship means in our new missionary context. For more details about the gathering see http://www.breakoutpioneer.org.uk/index.php
The Second International Conference, which we hosted with Fresh Expressions was a great sucess. We had over 80 delegates from 11 different nations including Canada, Germany, South Africa and New Zealand plus 20 guests from the UK. Speakers included Graham Cray and Tim Harris from Australia. But there was lots of time for people to here what is happening in other countries and for delegates to learn that they are not alone in this and we are becoming a worldwide movement.
Recordings from the conference can be found at http://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/events/international13
Please note, we have had to make a change to one of the dates advertised for Pioneer School. The session on Mission Shaped Discipleship will now be Saturday 15th March, not Saturday 8th March.
We had an amazing conference 1-6 Sept 2013. Around 100 people gathered in Cambridge, UK from 11 different countries, to share their experiences of pioneering and working within fresh expressions.
What a fantastic time we had – encouraging and affirming each other, hearing from some of the world’s experts in this area and making new friends. It was a privilege to meet you all, thank you
